Choca toma como punto de partida la vianda obrera chilena: ese recipiente de metal o aluminio en el que se transporta el almuerzo preparado en casa, a menudo por una madre, una esposa o por quien sostiene el trabajo del cuidado. El término nombra no solo el envase, sino una práctica de traslado del hogar hacia la jornada laboral; una forma de llevar consigo el calor doméstico, el alimento y, con ellos, una intimidad persistente en medio de la faena. La choca aparece así como un objeto de uso y, al mismo tiempo, como un objeto preciado: pequeño contenedor de memoria, afecto y pertenencia.

El proyecto desarrolla esa imagen a través de piezas en papel e hilo negro, junto con fotografías intervenidas que acentúan su condición frágil. Al desplazar la choca hacia la imagen y la evocación, la obra la sustrae de su función estrictamente utilitaria para subrayar su densidad simbólica. Una de las piezas reinterpreta la naturaleza muerta desde esta constelación de viandas, abriendo una reflexión sobre trabajo, cuidado y domesticidad desde un objeto humilde que condensa una experiencia colectiva.

Choca takes as its point of departure the Chilean worker’s lunchbox: the metal or aluminum container used to carry a home-prepared meal, often packed by a mother, a wife, or by whoever sustains the labor of care. The term names not only the container itself, but also a practice of transferring home into the workday; a way of carrying domestic warmth, food, and with them, a lingering intimacy into the middle of labor. In this sense, the choca appears both as an object of use and as a precious object: a small vessel of memory, affection, and belonging.

The project develops this image through works in paper and black thread, together with intervened photographs that heighten its fragile condition. By shifting the choca toward image and evocation, the work removes it from its strictly utilitarian function in order to foreground its symbolic density. One of the pieces reinterprets still life through this constellation of lunch containers, opening a reflection on labor, care, and domesticity through a humble object that condenses a shared social experience.
