LIBRO ITINERANTE4 web.jpg

The oblique shadow is a collaborative, itinerant artist’s book project, initiated in March 2025 and still in circulation. It takes its name from a phrase that functions as a poetic and operative threshold: “It is the oblique shadow, translucent and inert / That grips the ankle and shakes it.” This fragment does not operate as a simple quotation, but as the trigger for an open-ended device, in which each artist is invited to approach the book through their own reading, displacement, or material response.

The project is sustained by the trust involved in releasing a book into circulation, accepting its drift, its mutation, and its possible silences, as well as by the construction of a network of deferred relations, where artists who do not necessarily know one another participate in a single work without sharing the same time or presence.

Five physical books have been circulated, sent to São Paulo (Brazil), Santiago (Chile), and Cerrito (Argentina). Their journeys have traced a partial yet living map: some still reveal their movements, while others have fallen silent or remained suspended. This difference is not incidental, but constitutive of the project. Each intervention, delay, and detour becomes part of a collective work written over time, through distance, trust, and the act of letting go.
